Make Holiday Travel Happy!

Will you be traveling for the holidays? If so, does that have you excited or stressed out? Holiday travel can be chaotic and worrisome for so many reasons. Packing can be challenging due to layers of heavy winter clothing and presents for family and friends. Road conditions can be slick and icy with fewer hours of light to make the journey easier. GPS systems, although helpful, are notorious for missing the final destination.

What can make holiday travel more enjoyable? Hiring a limo from Lands End Limousine! Let our drivers navigate the roads and find your destination. Choose a car with more room for luggage and presents than your vehicle has. Begin your vacation as soon as the driver pulls away from your home! Rather than driving, sit back and enjoy those you are traveling with, read a book, or just close your eyes and get some rest.

Lands End Limousines are a great option for transport to airports, train stations, bus terminals, and ferry's or use our service for your entire trip!  Call us to learn more and get pricing. Let Lands End Limousines help create happier holidays!

Holidays at the Newport Mansions

As we feel the brisk New England air, our minds turn towards all of the upcoming holidays. This is a spectacular time to spend in our little slice of the world. The leaves are changing colors and the view is breathtaking! Fields of pumpkins, cornstalks, hay, and mums join the trees in making Rhode Island one of the most beautiful places to visit during the Autumn season.

Along with hayrides, candy apples, and pumpkin picking, Newport is also beginning to gear up for Christmas and New Years Eve. They may be a few months away, but the Newport Mansions will dazzle you with their Christmas displays starting in November so we want to give you time to plan!

The Breakers, The Elms, and Marble House will be dressed in silver and gold and will offer music and tours to help usher in the holiday spirit. From The Preservation Society of Newport County:

"Thousands of poinsettia plants, spectacular evergreens, trees, wreaths and fresh flowers and 19th century style ornaments turn the houses and their grounds into a Christmas wonderland.  Dining tables set with period silver and china and mannequins dressed in authentic costumes complete the elegant setting.

All three houses will be decorated and open daily for tours from Saturday, November 17 through Monday, January 1, 2013.   The Breakers opens daily at 9 a.m., The Elms and Marble House open at 10 a.m.   The last tour admission at all three houses is at 4 p.m., and the houses & grounds close at 5 p.m.

Please note, on Christmas Eve, December 24, the last tour admission at all 3 houses will be at 3 p.m.  Houses are closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day."

Lands End Limousines can help arrange your travel around Rhode Island so you can enjoy Autumn in New England!  Call to make arrangements!

Because People Like This Are Driving ......

The recent weather has been dreary and many people have been complaining that they feel down, so Lands End Limousines would like to bring some laughter to your day.

Please enjoy this list of funny driving stories people have reported to their insurance companies. Oh, and by the way, these will also highlight why you might be safer traveling in a car with a professional driver!

  • To avoid hitting the bumper of the car in front I struck a pedestrian.
  • A pedestrian hit me and went under my car.
  • A truck backed through my windshield into my wife's face.
  • I was on the way to the doctor with rear end trouble when my universal joint gave way causing me to have an accident.
  • My car was legally parked as it backed into another vehicle.
  • Coming home I drove into the wrong house and collided with a tree I don't have.
  • I thought my window was down, but I found it was up when I put my head through it.
  • An invisible car came out of nowhere, struck my car, and vanished.
We hope this helped brighten your day!

Who's Going to Prom?

Dresses, tuxes, and flowers oh my!  It must mean it's prom time! So much planning goes into this once, or maybe twice, in a lifetime event. Typically the plans focus on fashion and fun.

For those young enough to be attending prom this spring, life should be about fashion and fun.  Plan to enjoy the night with your closest friends and you will create memories you will share forever.  Plan to look good with your date and you will create photos to share forever.  In addition to fashion and fun, please remember to plan for safety.  Plan a safe night and you will be around to share the memories and photos forever.

Please designate a driver for the night whether it be one of your friends, a parent, or hire a limo and choose your destinations wisely. It takes just one moment to create devastating memories instead of magical memories.

Lands End Limousines wishes you all a memorable and safe prom!

The Historical Mansions of Newport, RI

As the warmer weather approaches, it is the perfect time to plan a trip to Newport, RI.  One of the famous, must see tourists sites are the famed Newport Mansions.  Lands End Limousines proudly shares a brief overview of some of the mansions you can tour.

The Elms
Rosecliff
Bellevue Avenue is home to most of the beautiful mansions. The first house to be built on Bellevue Avenue is  Chateau Sur Mer.  The Elms is located on Bellevue Avenue close to the center of town and is easily accessible by foot. Isaac Bell House has been recently restored and is one of the best surviving examples of shingle style architecture in this country.  A landmark of the Gothic Revival style is the Kingscote Mansion, also located on Bellevue Avenue. The Vanderbilt family built a home utilizing 500,00 cubic feet of marble in its construction.  The home is aptly named Marble House.  Known for  hosting most of the lavish parties of the Gilded Age, Rosecliff mansion still hosts weddings and events today. If you're interested in art, Rough Point holds one of the area's most remarkable collections of private art.  The home once belonged to American tobacco heiress Doris Duke and some of her personal items and furnishings can still be viewed.
